It looks like the iPhone 5 is getting closer to release, as we’ve seen a few tantalising images leak of the hotly anticipated next-gen handset. Today, we’ve got a few more fresh images that may confirm that the iPhone will indeed be a fairly drastic redesign from the iPhone 4 and 4S.One manufacturer we spoke to said that he was sure that the leaked images were accurate – so sure that he was already preparing to construct iPhone 5 cases and he’d be willing to ship replacements for free if they turned out not to be perfect. He enumerated three big changes from the old iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5:
- The phone is much bigger, measuring 58.57 mm wide, 123.83 mm high and 7.6 mm thin. The screen is 4″.
- The earphone jack has been relocated to the bottom of the phone.
- The dock connector is much smaller, similar in size to micro USB.
Of course there are some other big changes afoot if this leak is accurate – the speaker grilles are much bigger and more pronounced on the bottom of the phone. The rear chassis is also new, with a two-colour aluminium design that separates the main rear cover from the antennae. Inside, there are expected to be changes too – including high speed LTE connectivity and the iOS 6 operating system. The phone is expected to launch in October.

Cant really see Apple doing a phone in purple, green and shabby grey personally, thats more Microsoft’s game.
Aside from the dimensions, it looks like the IP4/4s for the most part. Apple has always been know for progressive design, and their hardware has always looked like it belonged in Architectural digest. If this is truly the design for the IP5, i think it will be a fail.
I could be wrong but many were thinking the IP4s would have been a redesign and as that wasn’t the case i suspect the expectation is that IP5 will look and feel refreshed. thoughts?

We already say the new Macbooks….They are exactly the same. NO DESIGN CHANGE whatsoever. They also ADDED a retina macbook pro which is thinner, but not drastically different. The ipad 3 wasn’t changed at all, and I am willing to be the iPhone is not much different then the rumors we’ve been seeing. Where have you been??

Drastic redesign!? Is it me or does this almost look exactly like the 4’s design, except thinner and longer?
There’s only so much you can do with a device that’s made to fit in your pocket and is basically all display, but Johnny Ive though is one of the best designers in the world, so I’m willing to bet the 6th generation iPhone will look markedly different.

Why are the images shown in isometric projection? That’s why they look distorted. Perspective would be better for the viewer.

The concept iPhone 5 photo’s earlier are more close than this mockup. They come close and i do hope there both wrong. One of the rumors i heard this year is suggesting that Apple will come with an all new design for all her products (iDevices and Mac’s + MacBook’s). I hope this rumor is true.
