Samsung unveil biggest ever microSD card

samsung-256GB-microsd-card.0.0Samsung unveiled the world’s largest Micro SD card this week, the Evo Plus 256GB.

As well as its impressive amount of storage space, the Evo Plus 256GB is also one of the fastest cards, with a UHS-3 rating and read and write speeds of 95 MB/s and 90 MB/s, respectively. Its 256GB of space is enough to store 12 hours of 4K video, 33 hours of full HD video, 23,500 songs or 55,200 photos… so if there are any budding mobile videographers, this might be the Micro SD card for you.

This 256GB card is around 20% larger than the previous title holder, SanDisk’s 200GB Ultra model, which was released in March. The new Samsung Evo Plus is also a bit faster than the former leader, making it a better card all-around. Samsung are also adding a 10 year warranty to the card, which is probably a pretty safe bet for them given the stability of flash-based storage.

The new Samsung Evo Plus 256GB card will be available in June for $250, which should translate into a UK price of around £200. We’re looking to source the card now, and we’ll let you know once we add it to our virtual shelves.
