The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are beautiful phones, crafted into gorgeous curves from glass and metal. The phones look so brilliant, that you’ll be tempted to go without a case… but you might end up regretting that decision pretty fast, as a CNET writer recently found out the hard way.
Writing on March 17th, Jessica Dolcourt reported that she dropped her Galaxy S7 onto a tile floor. Despite surviving a fall onto a wooden floor in a pub earlier, this time the phone’s rear glass was totally destroyed by the drop, giving the back a neat — albeit dangerous — spiderweb look.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I should have had a case lined up, but I hadn’t gotten around to it and that’s my fault… The good news: Even fractured, the S7 is still 100 percent usable. But I’m getting a case ASAP to cover my shame.”
The moral of the story is this: get a case. It doesn’t have to be the most shock-proof Galaxy S7 case in the world, but it does need to be there if you want your phone to stay in one piece. If you don’t want to obscure the great looks of your phone, you could get a clear case, for example. No matter how careful you are, it only takes one lapse in judgement and coordination to end up with a Galaxy S7 that looks like the one above.
