Early adopters are the trendsetters of technology, the people willing to try new and exciting gadgets before the kinks have been ironed out and the bugs have been fixed. Living on the bleeding edge is fun, but it definitely comes with some downsides too. Here are 10 signs you’re an early adopter.

1. When you take your new gadget to the shop for repairs or an accessory, they’ve never seen one before and send you back home empty-handed.

2. Whenever you get a new wearable, at least one person asks you “is that the new iWatch?” — even if it has a Motorola or Samsung logo on it.

3. You go to download drivers from the manufacturer’s website, but they haven’t added your device to the site yet.

4. You have a small drawer full of gadgets that could have been awesome, but never really took off — like the PS Vita, HD DVD players, early smartwatches…

5. You’re annoyed when your mate picks up a second-gen gadget which looks better, does more and costs less than your first-gen model.

6. You don’t bother with ‘S’ iPhone releases – only a new number is worth buying.

7. Your co-workers eagerly tell you about a ‘new’ gadget that you’ve been reading about on tech websites for the past two years.

8. You pledging a Kickstarter and forgetting you’ve done so until the product turns up 2 years later…

9. You pre-order all the new gadgets, then selectively cancel them in response to rumours, leaks and speculation.

10. Your friends and relatives don’t buy any new gadget without asking you first.

  1. You get made fun of when you take a new gadget with you, and then in a few months (or years) later they will be using it too.
