New automatic sleep tracking
Most fitness trackers can track your sleep cycles, but they require you to manually enter ‘sleep mode’ before you hit the hay. The Fitbit Charge is clever enough to detect when you’ve gone to sleep, automatically engaging the sleep mode and tracking your cycles. This is brilliant for those nights where you’re way too tired to think about much of anything before your head hits the pillow. You don’t even need to remember to set your alarm clock, as the Fibit Charge comes with a great silent alarm that gently wakes you up without disturbing anyone else.
Clever, comprehensive activity tracking
Of course, the Fitbit Charge is great for tracking your activities when you’re awake as well. You’ll get stats like steps taken, floors climbed, calories burned and much more. These are represented in the excellent Fibit app (available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone), which lets you find trends and (hopefully) see your health improving over time. You can also see a summary of these stats on the Charge’s small display, letting you get an instant update on your progress towards daily goals.
Notifications and long battery life
The Fitbit Charge also fills the function of a smartwatch, automatically notifying you of incoming texts, calls and other alerts. This is achieved through a Bluetooth 4.0 (Low Energy) connection, which in combination with the small display unlocks extremely long battery life: up to 7 days.
Sleek, modern styling
The Fitbit Charge is available in black and slate colours, and large and small sizes that fit the vast majority of wrists. The Charge has a sleek contemporary look, with a diagonal ridged texture and a water-resistant design.
