The first of HTC’s trio of new handsets was released to the world last week and is already one of the top selling phones. The HTC Legend is an upgrade to the HTC Hero and features a unique ‘unibody’ design, no doubt inspired by Apple’s range of laptop computers. The lightweight metal housing for the phone is carved out of a single block of aluminium, making it extremely sturdy and robust.
To really make the most of your HTC Legend you’ll want to invest in a few accessories, but with so many Legend Cases, Legend Covers, Bluetooth Headphones and Car Kits to choose from, finding the best ones isn’t always easy.
This post runs through ten of our most popular HTC Legend Accessories.
1. HTC Legend Screen Protector SP P340 – Twin Pack
The last thing you’re going to want to do the the screen of your new Legend is scratch it. HTC screen protectors are crystal clear and will keep your phone looking like new. They don’t reduce the clarity of your screen and colours look exactly the way they’re supposed to. If your screen protector gets dirty, they can be removed easily from the phone, cleaned and refitted. For more information on choosing a screen protector for your phone, take a look at our guide to choosing the best Screen Protector for your phone.
2. HTC PO S491 Legend Standard Leather Pouch – Black
The Legend is a smart looking phone that needs a smart looking case. The S491 has been designed specifically to accommodate the ‘chin’ on the Legend. It’s a pouch style case that made from a high quality leather with a soft lining that helps to keep your screen fingerprint free.
3. HTC CC C200 Micro USB Car Charger
As phones get smarter and more powerful with large, bright touch screens they use more and more power – especially if you use them for Sat Nav, internet & email. The HTC Legend Car charger will keep your phone powered and recharge the battery while you’re in the car.
The Dash Genie is the latest must have accessory to arrive at Mobile Fun. It’s an ingenious car holder that uses suction to attach itself to your dashboard and will hold your Legend securely, without having to mess around with adjustable arms. The ‘Red Dot’ sticks to the flat back of your handset and holds it securely. Don’t just take my word for it. Mobile Fun’s very own Stig took it for a test drive and you can see the results on the Mobile Fun YouTube Channel.
5. Noreve Tradition C Leather Case for HTC Legend
Noreve make wonderful luxury cases and bags for phones and laptops. All of their products are simply styled, made from the best possible materials and look great. The Traditional C Case for the HTC Legend has a soft velveteen lining and a high grade leather exterior.
6. HTC Stereo Headset with Music Controls RC E150 – Black
Depending on where you purchased your phone, you may not get any headphones in the box with the HTC Legend. If you don’t then you’ll be needing these – they have a built in microphone so you can use them for handsfree calling as well as an in-line remote control that lets you answer and end calls, play, pause, skip and rewind your music.
7. Jabra BT530 Bluetooth Headset
The BT-530 is a fantastic Bluetooth Headset from Jabra that packs in a lot of features. It’s not the most recent headset, but it’s our highest ranked headset based on customer feedback. As well as having 2 noise cancelling microphones, the Jabra BT530 has intelligent volume controls that will automatically increase the volume when you enter a noisy environment and support for multipoint – this allows you to use the headset with two mobile phones at the same time (Read my post on ‘What is Multipoint‘).
8. Sony Ericsson MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
Sony Ericsson accessories with a HTC phone? Yes! Sony Ericsson have always been one of the best manufacturers of stereo Bluetooth headsets and the MW600 really doesn’t disappoint. Not only does this compact headset allow you to stream music from your phone, it has full music controls and is the first stereo Bluetooth Headset to feature a built in FM Radio.
If you’ve tried to listening to the radio on your phone using a Bluetooth connection in the past, you’ll know it’s nearly impossible as the wire for the headphones acts as the antenna for the radio. The MW600 solves this by having an FM receiver built into the control unit. Considering the price of previous Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Headphones I was amazed to see that this is on sale for less than £40. For more details on the MW600, take a look at our Sony Ericsson MW600 Hands On Review.
9. Jabra SP700 Bluetooth Speakerphone
If you want to listen to music from your HTC Legend in your car but don’t have a 3.5mm line in port on your stereo, don’t panic there is another way to do it – and what’s more, you won’t need to have wires trailing everywhere! The Jabra SP700 is a self install Bluetooth Car Kit that simply clips to the sun visor of your car and pairs to your HTC Legend using Bluetooth. The SP700 supports the A2DP profile, which means that you can stream your music to it over Bluetooth and listen to it either using the built in speaker or through your car stereo speakers using it’s built in FM Transmitter. The Jabra SP700 will also play your phone calls through your car stereo speakers for improved clarity. The battery life of the SP700 is fantastic with up to 14 hours talk time and 250 hours stand by.
10. SanDisk MicroSDHC Card – 16GB
As with most handsets, the Legend only has a limited amount of internal storage. As a result, one of the first purchases you will need to make is a bigger memory card. This 16GB memory card can store upto 14000 high quality photos, 3000 songs and 18 hours of video. Using a SanDisk 16GB Memory Card with the Legend will allow you to store more music, games, photos and videos on your phone. Images and video taken using the Camera will take up lots more space, so more memory is a must. A 16GB memory card will let you store over 6000 high quality photos, 3000 songs or around 80 hours of standard definition video. A 16GB card is the largest memory card that is currently available, although a32GB Micro SD HC memory card is due for release later in April.
This isn’t all of the Legend Accessories that are available, just some of the ones that I think do a great job with the phone.
