Top 10 Accessories For the Sony Ericsson X2

The Sony Ericsson X2 is the long awaited upgrade to the Xperia X1 that launched way back in 2008. It features an 8MP camera with LED flash, GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi and most importantly is fully touch screen. It runs the latest version of Windows Mobile software making it much easier to use without a stylus. If you’ve got the Sony Ericsson X2 you’re going to want to make the most of all of it’s features, so to help you find the best ones, but with so many Cases, Bluetooth HeadsetsBluetooth Headphones and Car Kits available, getting the right ones can be a bit of a challenge, so to try and make the process a little easier I’ve compiled a list of the top 10 Sony Ericsson X2 Accessories.

1. Sony Ericsson X2 MicroSDHC 16GB Memory Card

Despite the X2 being a market leading Multimedia handset, it only has a limited amount of internal storage. As a result, one of the first purchases you will need to make is a bigger memory card. This 16GB memory card can store upto 14000 high quality photos, 3000 songs and 18 hours of video. Using a SanDisk 16GB Memory Card with the X2 will allow you to store more music, games, photos and videos on your phone. Images taken using the 5MP Camera will take up more space, so more memory is a must. A 16GB memory card will let you store over 6000 high quality photos, 3000 songs or 80 hours of video. A 16GB card is the largest memory card that is currently available.

2. Jawbone Prime Bluetooth Headset

Jawbone headsets are great. They were among the first to introduce noise cancelling technology, and since their launch a couple of years ago, many other manufacturers have been trying to match them. The latest headset from Jawbone is the Prime – at first glance it’s very similar to the previous 2 models, but is actually quite a bit smaller. The technology inside it has changed too. You no longer need to have a sensor pressed against your cheek to pick up vibrations, and it now has a 2nd microphone to help eliminate background noise. The Prime is also a multipoint headset (what is multipoint) so you can use it with two devices at the same time.

3. Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 Stereo Bluetooth Headset

The Sony Ericsson IS800 is the smallest Stereo Bluetooth Headset that you can get, and when I say small, I mean incredibly small! The two earpieces are connected by a short wire that also has a slim line control unit. From the headset you can answer/end calls, activate voice dialing and play/pause your music. Considering its size, battery life is impressive with up to 270 hours stand by time. They may not look much in a photo, but they compliment the X2 perfectly and when you see them, you’ll want them!

4. InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector – Sony Ericsson Xperia X2

InvisibleSHIELD are more than a screen protector but not quite a mobile phone case. They’re a tough, thin film that covers your phone and protects it against knocks, scratches and scrapes. Installation takes a little bit longer than a standard screen protector would, but the end result is well worth it. The InvisibleSHIELD has a non slip, matte finish that is great at repelling fingerprints and reducing reflections – most importantly it doesn’t affect the sensitivity of the touch screen. As the InvisibleShield doesn’t add any extra bulk to the X2, you can use in in conjuction with most other Sony Ericsson X2 Cases.

5. Sony Ericsson BST-41 Battery

The X2 is a great social handset that offers many ways to stay in touch with people – calling, texting, emailing, facebook, instant messaging, tweeting and more. If you’ve got a busy social life you won’t want to be without it. If you’re out and about all day and know that you’re going to be on your phone a lot, then then best accessory you can get will be a spare battery.

6. Battery Charger

Carrying a spare battery around with you is a great way to keep your phone going for longer, but keeping 2 batteries charged can be a bit of a nightmare. The Sony Ericsson EP-900 is a portable battery charger that you can use to charge a second battery without having to put the battery in your phone.

7. Krusell Horizon Hector Leather Case For Sony Ericsson X2

Although the Krusell Hector is a universal case, it’s a perfect fit for the Sony Ericsson X2. It’s a high quality leather case with a soft, suede effect lining that helps to keep your phone clean and protected against knocks and drops. The front flap of the case has a magnetic fastening and the Krusell logo is embossed into the leather. The case has a cut out on the bottom so that you can push your phone out quickly and easily. On the rear of the case are two stitched in belt loops that will allow you to securely fit the case to a belt or bag strap.

8. Sony Ericsson AN300 Car Charger

The X2 isn’t too bad when it comes to talk time, but as soon as you start emailing, going online or watching videos your battery will start to drain quite quickly so a car charger is a worthwhile investment. The genuine Sony Ericsson X2 Car charger will work in both 12v and 24v vehicles (Cars, Lorries and Trucks). It has a Micro USB connection so will work with all Micro USB devices.

9. Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone

Until recently, my favourite portable bluetooth car kit was the Jabra SP700, but it did fall short on a couple of features – namely noise cancelling and music playback controls. Jabra have just released the Cruiser, a small, slim portable car kit that adds both of these features to an already fantastic car kit.

The Jabra Cruiser is a Bluetooth Car Kit that simply clips to the sun visor of your car and pairs to your X2 using Bluetooth. The Cruiser supports both the A2DP and AVRCP profiles, so as well as being able to stream your music to it over Bluetooth for playback either through the built in speaker or through your car stereo using it’s built in FM Transmitter, you can now play/pause/track skip without having to touch your phone .

The Jabra Cruiser will also play your phone calls through your car stereo speakers for improved clarity. The dual microphones in the cruiser work together to cut out background noise, making this a perfect choice for any one who spends a lot of time driving on motorways or noisy roads.

10. Parrot MKi9100 Bluetooth Car Kit

Parrot have always made fantastic car kits and the MKi range are no exception. There are three options available, the MKi9000, MKi9100 and the MKi9200. The main differences between them being the display screen that comes with them. I’ve chosen the MKi9100 as the best one for the X2 as the external screen makes it easier to navigate the car kit menu system and to see who’s calling without having to look at your phone.

You can play music from your phone through the MKi9100 using Bluetooth or 3.5mm line in. The MKi9100 will synchronise with your phone book automatically and supports phone independent voice dialling. The MKi9100 comes with a small remote that you can attach to your dash or steering wheel to control your music playback and calls.

If you’ve got stereo controls built into the steering wheel of your car you can use the optional Parrot Unika to control the MKi9100 car kit with your existing controls instead of the remote. Regular software updates that improve compatibility with LG phones are available free of charge from the Parrot website.
