The Nexus 5 is probably the best-loved Nexus smartphone from Google. It was powerful, well-designed and came with the great Android 4.4 OS. Last year’s Nexus 6 was much more divisive in comparison, with a massive 6-inch display that proved a little too big for some Android fans. It’s with great pleasure then, that I report the best evidence so far that we will see a new Nexus 5 in 2015.

According to Microsoft representatives, new Lumia flagships are coming soon.. That’s encouraging news after a week that saw Microsoft announced a $7 billion plus writeoff related to its acquisition of Nokia, and layoffs of nearly 8,000 of its workers – largely in its mobile division. The move was largely seen as a step back from the mobile industry, with Microsoft planning to reduce its lineup to just a few phones per year. These handsets would be released in three areas that Microsoft think it can compete – business, flagships and value phones.
Yesterday BBC Newsbeat published an amusingly weird story of a British man who was arrested for charging his phone using a plug socket on a train. The passenger, Robin Lee, wasn’t eventually de-arrested on the original charge of “abstracting electricity”, but he was re-arrested for “unacceptable behaviour” as he contested the original charges aggressively. There are a couple of clear lessons here…
