What charger does my MacBook need?

With the release of the Macbook Pro 14″ 2021 and MacBook Pro 16″ 2021 last year and the more recent MacBook Air 2022 bringing back MagSafe, it has left us in a little bit of a confusing place when you are trying to decide what charger you need.

What MacBook do you have?

First of all, we need to find out what MacBook you have. This will allow you to find out which charger is right for your laptop.

  1. Go to the top left-hand corner of the screen and click ?
  2. Next, you need to press ‘About This Mac
  3. This will bring up the below window where you can see the model of your Mac, in this case ‘MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

What charger do I need?

Now you have found out which MacBook you have, you can now match it up with the below model which will show you what charger you need and whether you can get a third-party charger.

11-inch MacBook Air models introduced between 2010 and 2011
