Does the iPhone X have expandable storage?

Short answer: No, the iPhone X doesn’t have expandable storage.

Long answer: The iPhone X doesn’t have expandable storage… but you can add storage temporarily using a Lightning drive. Here’s what you need to know.

How it works

Lightning drives are like normal USB drives, in that they have a full-size USB connector on one end, and some flash storage in the middle to keep your files, photos and videos. The interesting part is that they have a Lightning connector opposite the USB connector, so you can plug them into an iPhone easily.

Using a free iOS app, you can copy photos, videos and other files from your iPhone X to the Lightning drive, or vice versa.

Why it’s useful

You can use Lightning drives in a load of different ways. For example, you could use them to copy all of your iPhone X’s photos and videos and transfer them to your computer — and it will be way faster than doing it using iCloud, Dropbox or Google Photos.

Another idea would be to copy HD video files to the drive, so you can watch them on your iPhone during a long drive or flight. Even if you don’t have any spare space on your iPhone X, you can still play the video file directly from the drive.

There are loads of uses for these kind of drives; in the end you’re just limited by your imagination!
