The Sony Xperia XZ is coming soon to the UK — it’s currently slated to arrive on October 8th. The phone seems like a much more viable flagship than the Xperia X Performance ever was, and it’s less expensive too. Let’s take a closer look at Sony’s latest flagship phone, and cover some of our first cases and accessories for it too.
All about the Xperia XZ
The Xperia XZ is designed to be a crossover, a hybrid of new Xperia phones (X) and old (Z). The focus is on the camera setup, which includes an impressive 23-megapixel camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel selfie cam up front. The rear camera is based around a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor, backed with predictive hybrid autofocus. Initial reports indicate that the camera is one of the best available in a smartphone, and might even challenge the iPhone 7.
Inside, there’s a Snapdragon 820 processor, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. The phone will run Android Marshmallow out of the box, but an upgrade to the latest version, Nougat, has already been promised.
The screen is a beautiful 5.2-inch 1080p display, flanked with a fingerprint reader to the left and a USB-C connector below. It’s an altogether modern affair that retains the classic design of Sony’s long-running Xperia series: contemporary materials, rounded rectangles and water resistance. It’s a stylish phone, particularly the blue variant that Sony have highlighted in their advertising.
