The best Bluetooth tracking devices

Losing your keys, wallet or phone is an absolute nightmare. We’ve all been there, that feeling of dread after an unsuccessful “three-tap check” of your pockets, the immediate accusations of everyone and everything nearby, the sofa tipping. Well thanks to Bluetooth tracking devices, you can easily locate your valuables and make all that a thing of the past. We take a look at the best Bluetooth tracking devices available now.

Nonda iHere 3.0

Nonda iHere 3.0

The Nonda iHere 3.0 is a smart little triangular device that makes tracking your belongings a breeze. It’s one of the more attractive devices we’ve seen, with a keychain friendly design and a button that resembles the home button found on iPhones and iPads. Instructions for use are pretty simple; you attach the iHere to the item you wish to track (i.e. keys), pair with your phone through the iHere Android or iOS app, then use the app to monitor its location up to 75 feet away. The button on the tracker itself can be used to ring your phone, trigger audio dictation or it can even double up as a handy remote shutter for taking photos and selfies without taking out your phone. Unlike other tracking devices, it’s rechargeable so you don’t have to worry about replacing a fiddly battery.

Biisafe Buddy

Charmingly named, the Biisafe Buddy is a neat circular Bluetooth tracking device that’s easy to attach to keys, bags and wallets. Its black circular design is a little more discreet than the iHere and is akin to a modern car key button. The free Biisafe app (iOS and Android) will let you pair the device with your phone and track its location up to 50 metres away, and if you stray too far away from your phone, the Buddy will let you know with an audible beep. There’s also a handy feature for sharing your location with friends and family for when you need to let a loved one know you’ve arrived somewhere safely. The battery on the Biisafe is not rechargeable, however I’d probably favour the 6 month battery life over having to remember to plug it in every week.

Olixar Bluetooth Anti-Lost Device

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to the Nonda and Biisafe options, the Olixar Anti-Lost will be right up your street, coming in at half the price of it’s more premium rivals. It works in much the same way with a keychain design and simple pairing with your phone. It uses the ‘Radarman’ app which, while not quite as polished as the bespoke offerings from Nonda and Biisafe, is straightforward to use and has all the required functionality to quickly track down your devices. The button on the tracker can be used as a remote shutter for taking photos and selfies or to trigger audio recording for quick dictation.

Tile

Another tracking device worth checking out is the Tile. Similar to the iHere in its iPhone-like design, it offers all of the same tracking functionality including location monitoring through the Tile app and phone calling at the touch of a button. What sets it apart from competitors is the Tile Commuty Find feature, where if all else fails, you can mark a belonging as lost and receive notifications should a fellow Tile user go within range of the item. The item remains private to other users but you can then use their location to track it down. Clearly this relies on there being a decent number of Tile users in your vicinity but it’s a clever idea nonetheless. The other notable feature is the battery life. You can expect around a year’s use, after which Tile will replace your product at a reduced price.
