Virtual reality butler, anyone?

Bentley has recently taken to designing luxury concept cars of the future – and there’s one unique feature that’s captured the imagination – the little virtual reality butler that pops up within the car’s interior.

Now it’s possible that if you can afford a Bentley you can afford a real-life flesh and bone butler, but nevertheless, the idea of a holographic assistant seems pretty exciting.

Siri and Cortana are just fine, but the fact that they’re a body-less voice and dare we say it, lack a little personality, certainly limits our interaction with them.

Bentley’s personal Jeeves could assist with booking and recommending restaurant tables, reserving opera tickets, and a multitude of other things – catering for the every whim and wish of the multi-millionaire Bentley owner… afterall if they won’t, who will?

A simple “Home, Jeeves” bequest will also put your car into autonomous driving mode, and before you know it your virtual butler will be whisking you back to your palatial pad… that is unless a speed bump accidentally drops that glass of champagne on him, and then who knows what could happen!

Bentley design director Stefan Sielaff, in a statement to The Mirror, says that “in the future our cars will of course feature yet-to-be-invented connectivity and technologies – perhaps a virtual butler, for example – that enhance the lives of our luxury millennial customers, and I strongly believe that how these technologies are integrated into the cabin will become ever more important.”
