Mid-range Lumia 650 announced, SIM-free phone and accessories available

Microsoft announced the Lumia 650 today, rumoured to be the last phone to launch with the Lumia brand. Unfortunately, it looks like Lumia will be going out with a whimper instead of a bang — apart from a slim, metal frame, there’s not much here that sets the mid-range 650 apart.

The Lumia 650 has a five-inch 720p AMOLED display protected with Gorilla Glass, sitting just below a five-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide angle lens. Inside, you’ll find a quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor running at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The phone also has NFC and a mid-size 2,000mAh battery. The back of the phone is similarly spartan, with an unremarkable 8-megapixel rear camera and the Windows logo being the only adornments.

The phone does look good at least, with an anodised aluminium frame and a thickness of just 6.9 millimetres. The phone is only available in white or black though, with none of the fun bright colours that Lumia phones were once known for. Instead, Microsoft is pitching it at a business audience, who might appreciate the built-in Office and OneDrive apps, and not mind the lack of Continuum support.

The Lumia 650 will launch on February 18th for £160. We’ll be stocking the phone SIM-free and unlocked, as well as a wide range of Lumia 650 cases and accessories. If you’re interested in the phone, check out the links below!
