The Microsoft Lumia 650 has been called the ‘last Lumia’, the final handset in a long-running line of Windows phones. It’s a bittersweet moment for Windows Phone fans, as Microsoft transitions to Surface Phone after 60 models under the Lumia brand. The Lumia 650 is the last hurrah then, a chance for Microsoft to conclude things as they begun: offering solid phones with unique software features, a friendly design and a reasonable price.

The Lumia 650 comes with a 5-inch 720p touchscreen; pretty much the standard for a mid-range phone these days. Inside, there’s an efficient (if not overpowered) Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset, backed with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a micro SD card slot. Under the back cover is a modest 2,000mAh battery, which should provide a full day’s worth of battery life. In terms of imaging, we’re looking at an 8-megapixel rear camera, with a 2-megapixel snapper up front. All in all, it’s a reasonable package for the money.
The 650 will of course run Windows 10, giving you a good set of built-in apps and fundamental features. Sadly Continuum isn’t supported, but you do get Microsoft’s Edge browser, its excellent keyboard and maps. You can download more apps from the Windows store, where you’ll find less apps than Android or iOS, but still a reasonable amount.
