This week Apple released its first battery case for the iPhone 6S — and the reaction so far hasn’t been great. The Verge called the Smart Battery Case a ‘design embarrassment’; Reddit dubbed it ‘the hunchback of Apple.com’. While the case does have some advantages, it’s also the ugliest Apple product released in recent memory. So let’s look at some of the alternatives: five better, smarter battery cases for the iPhone 6S.

The waterproofing used provides a IP-68 rating, meaning the case can be totally immersed in water (briefly) and still come out OK. If you’re looking for a do-anything case that doubles your battery life, this is a great choice.

Spigen is one of our favourite case makers, and this is their first battery case for the iPhone 6S.
