Samsung Galaxy Edge UK price revealed

Last month Samsung announced one of their most daring smartphones ever: the Galaxy Note Edge. The phone is a unique variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with a curved display that folds over one side. This extra screen real estate is used for additional controls and information, and is probably the first really useful implementation of a curved screen in a shipping product.

Today, we’re announcing the UK price for the Galaxy Note Edge: £650. The phone will be available sim-free and unlocked in your choice of two colours: frost white and charcoal black.

The Edge screen is used in some clever ways. During normal operation of your phone, you’ll find additional shortcuts and controls here, relating to the app that you currently have open. The edge of the display remains on at all times, and will show the time, notifications and other information in full colour. The Edge can even run its own mini apps, letting you launch the torch, start timers and even use your phone as a ruler.

Internally, the Note Edge is as powerful as the recently released Note 4. That includes a 5.6-inch 1440p Super AMOLED display, a 2.7GHz quad-core processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage plus microSD. The only real difference in specs to the Note 4 is the battery, which at 3000mAh is slightly smaller but still capacious.

The cameras on-board are impressive too, weighing in at 16-megapixels for the rear camera and 3.7-megapixels for the front-facing unit. Optical Image Stabilisation is also included, providing a more stable and less blurry shot.

The Note Edge comes with a stylus too, so you’ll be able to take notes, select text, perform context-sensitive actions and all the other fun stuff that defines the Note platform.
