ASUS have just announced their first smartwatch: the ZenWatch, running Google’s Android Wear OS.

The ZenWatch has a square face with a 320×320 pixel AMOLED display, set in a curved stainless steel frame with IP55 water resistance. The display isn’t curved, but the Gorilla Glass 3 above it is. The steel colour is complemented by a rose-gold-coloured trim around the perimeter of the watch and a genuine leather band with fine stitching. You can also replace the strap with your own 22mm strap.

Internally, the ZenWatch is equipped similarly to other Android Wear smartwatches like the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. That includes a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU, 512MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, Bluetooth and connectivity options.

Where the ZenWatch sets itself apart is in its feature set and style. Elements of ASUS’ ZenUI have made an appearance on the watch, with over a hundred new watch faces included.

The ZenWatch also includes Watch Unlock (unlock your phone by tapping your watch), Tap Tap (toggle functions by double-tapping the watch) and Cover To Mute (cover your watch to mute your phone). Additional apps like Remote Camera, Find My Phone, Presentation Control and Wellness Manager are also included on-board, making for a more comprehensive loadout than other Android Wear smartwatches on the market.

The ZenWatch will be available by late Autumn this year for around €199. To see more information or to place your pre-order, please visit the product page linked below:
