Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini announced, cases arriving now

Samsung announced their latest S mini handset this week, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. The phone, as with previous versions, is a downsized version of Samsung’s flagship phone which retains its look and special features, while offering a smaller screen and reduced specifications in exchange for a much lower price.

The Galaxy S5 Mini looks relatively stronger than its predecessor, with an Exynos 3470 chipset that includes a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot. The front of the phone is dominated with a 4.5″ 720p IPS display and a 2.1 megapixel selfie cam, while the back of the phone contains an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2100 mAh battery. LTE connectivity, wireless N and Bluetooth 4.0.

For software, we’re looking at Samsung’s usual outfit of Android 4.4 sitting underneath a hearty helping of TouchWiz UI. Many of the S5’s features appear on the Mini version, including IP67 waterproofind and the heartrate sensor.
