The Parrot Flower Power is a two piece system – a sensor that sits in the soil with your plants, and an app on your phone. The sensor connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and then you can read the information that it provides in the app in realtime. The use of Bluetooth Low Energy in the sensor makes for impressive battery life – six months from a single battery.
These four sensors – sunlight, moisture, temperature and fertiliser levels – give you all the pieces you need to ensure your plants’ welfare. The sensors makes its readings every 15 minutes, and these are uploaded to your phone every two hours, allowing you to make changes and they see how they affect your plant from hour to hour, day to day. If your phone isn’t in Bluetooth range, that’s not a problem – the sensor has sufficient onboard memory to store up to 80 days of sensor logs, and everything will be transferred across when your phone returns to being in range.
The app also contains a library of helpful content, with a maintenance tips for over 7,000 flowers and other plants. Each flower even has its own entry in the app, letting you quickly see its origins, photos, base requirements and relevant tips.
The Parrot Flower Bluetooth app is available for iOS and Android, and the hardware works with any phone that supports Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy – including the latest iPhone models and contemporary Android phones.
