Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 charging dock DK39 available for pre-order

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 was announced at MWC today, and we’re happy to announce the first accessory for it. It’s the DK39 magnetic charging dock, which offers a convenient way to both charge and stand your shiny new tablet. Let’s take a closer look.

First up, the DK39 utilises the dock connector on the Xperia Tablet Z2  to allow for charging without opening up the plastic flap that seals the microUSB port. This means charging is as simple as dropping the tablet into the connector, and letting the magnets make a perfect alignment every time. The dock provides 2.1A of power to ensure rapid charging of the tablet’s capacious battery, too.

Next on the list of features is this Xperia Tablet Z2 dock‘s capability to act as a desk stand. The magnets that make docking easier also support the tablet, allowing it to rest securely in an upright position. This orientation is perfect for watching films or other videos, as well as playing games or browsing the web. The connection here is strong enough that the tablet won’t fall over when you’re tapping on the screen.

The dock works with and without a cover installed, ensuring that you don’t have to go through an extra step when charging. This is achieved through interchangeable inserts, which you can change once to match your ideal configuration, then change as necessary going forwards.

Of course, as this dock is made from Sony it features the same beautiful industrial design as the tablet itself. That means a sharp look with clean lines, which fade into the background as the tablet is installed. The dock is quite portable too, weighing only 54 grams – so it’s easy to take the dock with you wherever you need it to be.
