The Star Wars lightsaber is ‘an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.’ It can be used as a tool of negotiation, of defence, and of power… And today, the lightsaber fulfills that last role quite literally, as we announce the Lightsaber Portable Battery Charger.
This officially licensed Star Wars collectible provides power via a USB port on the end of the lightsaber, dispensing up to 2600 mAh of power at a rate of 1.2A. That’s enough to charge most smartphones on the market from empty to full – including iPhones, Android phones and Windows Phones. That means if you bring your lightsaber, you’ll be able to double your battery life as well as impress other Star Wars fans.
This particular lightsaber is a facsimile of the one Darth Vader wields in the original trilogy, coloured silver with black elements and a crimson light on the end. The light is produced by an array of four LEDs, producing a powerful light. Enthuastits will be pleased to know that all of the design elements of the film version are here – including a thick ridged handgrip, forward-mounted adjustor knobs and a bevelled emitter shroud. Sadly, it doesn’t produce a blade of pure light, but then again you can’t have everything.
