Sim-free and unlocked Nokia Lumia 1020 coming soon

The highly anticipated Nokia Lumia 1020, previously known by its codename Nokia EOS, has finally been announced at an event in New York on Thursday.

The new Nokia handset combines combines the mammoth 41 megapixel camera of the 808 PureView with the optical image stabilisation and Windows Phone operating system of the Lumia 925. As a result of that combination, the Lumia 1020 should sport the best camera ever on a smartphone.

The rest of the phone is similarly high specification – this is Nokia’s new flagship, after all. The Lumia 1020 includes a 4.5-inch 768p AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, the best components Windows Phone has to offer right now. The phone is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, which can be expanded and augmented by various first-party accessories (see below).

The 1020 is much thinner than the bulging Nokia 808 PureView, although the new phone’s camera area is still thicker than the rest of the chassis. At 10.4 millimetres at its thickest point, the phone is still quite pocketable. At 158 grams, it’s also much lighter than the 808 PureView (169 grams) and the Nokia Lumia 920 (185 grams).

Here at Mobile Fun we’re happy to announce that we’ll be stocking the Lumia 1020 sim-free and unlocked. We have the Yellow 32 GB version listed as of right now, but we may add more models during the run up to the launch. The phone is expected to be released in the UK by September, so there isn’t too long to wait!

Of course, as well as the phone itself we’ll be stocking a wide range of accessories, including the phone’s essential Camera Grip Battery Case as well as a selection of Wireless Charging Shells. Have a look at our website for more Nokia Lumia 1020 accessories.
