At 112 grams, the phone weighs the same as the iPhone 5 and includes the same size screen – 4″. While the resolution isn’t as high as the more expensive HTC 8X, it’s guaranteed to be compatible with the 100,000+ Windows Phone apps on the market.
Inside, there have been considerable upgrades since the last generation. The phone has a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor that excels in the slick and responsive Windows Phone OS, backed with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. This can be supplemented with up to 32 GB of additional storage via micro SD card, making this potentially have more storage space than the 8X flagship.
The HTC 8S runs Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system, which has just come out and has been well received by critics for being fluid and colourful, with more apps being added all the time. The 8S is also one of two phones that supports Beats Audio on Windows Phone (the other being the 8X). While you don’t get a set of Beats headphones in the box, you do get a unique software equaliser that provides crisper vocals and more defined bass.
