The Samsung Galaxy Note II leaked two hours ahead of schedule

The Samsung Galaxy Note II has been leaked just a few hours ahead of its scheduled announcement in Berlin at the IFA 2012 trade show.

The leak, which comes via PocketNow, shows essentially a much larger Samsung Galaxy S III with stylus support. The phone includes a massive 5.5″ Super AMOLED 16:9 aspect ratio display running at 1280 x 720p, which is probably why it also includes a ridiculously large 3100 mAh battery – pretty much tablet territory.

The other specifications are impressive as well. There’s a quad-core Exynos processor running at 1.6 GHz (faster than the Galaxy S III), a full 2 GB of RAM and a choice of 16, 32 or 64 GB of internal storage augmented by up to 64 GB of micro SD. There’ll be an 8 megapixel camera on the back and 1.9 megapixels on the front. In terms of connectivity, we’ll be looking at 4G LTE in areas that support it (potentially the UK!) and HSPA+ elsewhere. The phone weighs 2g more than the original Note, but is .25 millimetres thinner.

Thankfully, the Note II will launch with the very latest Jelly Bean Android 4.1 OS. There’ll also be a few more tricks for the integrated S Pen stylus, including a feature called Air View that will allow you to hover over multimedia content to preview it in a pop-up windw. You’ll also be allowed to keep notes in pop-up windows, showing an increased focus on multitasking. You can also record videos of the Note II’s screen. Finally, there’s Quick Command which will allow you to see a menu of quick commands (go figure) when you swipe up with the S Pen.

The Note II will launch in Europe in October in two colour variations – Marble White and Titanium Gray, although the leaked image above does look rather like Pebble Blue.

Here at Mobile Fun, we’ll have Samsung Galaxy Note 2 accessories and cases ready well before that date. We’ll keep you up to date as we bring new categories online!
