Useful or Useless? The Pepper Spray iPhone case

Last week I bought you the news of the iKeyboard for iPad 2 – a silicone keyboard which you could put over the touchscreen keypad of your iPad 2 to make typing a little easier and more accurate.

This week my attention has been bought to the Pepper Spray iPhone Case……

So what is it?

The Pepper Spray iPhone case is simply an iPhone case with a small can of pepper spray attached to the side.  This means that if you ever get into an emergency whilst out, you can simply detach the pepper spray and it’s ready to use to stop your attacker.

The pepper spray can is attached to the side of the case, so it’s on the side of your iPhone – this means that bulk is added to your iPhone but the pepper spray is easy to access if you ever need it.  It’s attached with an integrated safety tab, so you’ll never accidentally set the pepper spray off in your pocket.

The pepper spray is a patented spray can design with a co-axial nozzle which means that you don’t have to twist the nozzle to use the spray, just simply spray and go.  The can provides 6 half a second bursts at a range of 1.5 metres and if you ever need a replacement the store sell those too.

So is it useful or useless?

Personally I wouldn’t want a can of pepper spray attached to my iPhone on a day to day basis but I can see its uses when out on the evening.  It saves a small amount of room and is easier to find if it’s attached to your phone.  Having the can visible may even deter potential thieves and attackers too.  Therefore for those instances I think it can be slightly useful but for day to day it’s pretty useless.
