Solar Powered Case for iPhone 3G

Please note that this product has now been discontinued and replaced with the iPhone Solar Power Sleeve. We’ve also got a great range of cases for the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS:

I’m sure most iPhone 3G users will agree that the battery life on the iPhone 3G is pretty poor at best. I can just about manage a whole days usage if I turn off 3G, which defeats the whole purpose of having the phone.

To combat this power problem, we have just released a range of Solar Powered cases for the new iPhone 3G. As well as protecting your iPhone 3G from everyday knocks and scrapes these energy saving cases can charge your iPhone. Each case has its own in built 1500 mAh battery, can provide one full charge for your iPhone and will recharge itself through the solar panel mounted to the front of the case, or via Mini USB if you’re in a badly lit area.

The iPhone 3G Solar Cases are available in Black and White and are due into stock mid August 2008.

  1. You know, I have seen solar powered purses as well, that you can put your cell phone in that will use solar power to charge your phone! I think that solar power is a very neat and upcoming thing when it comes to cell phones. Pretty soon we will be not only comparing mobile phone offers, but the goodies that come with them so we can save on the electricity bill!

  2. You dont have to be in direct sunlight to get sunburn, the same goes for charging the phone, you dont actually need to leave in direct sunlight, but daylight will charge it whilst your unaware, the american site products look flimsy, a bit cheap

  3. WHEN CAN I BUY ONE, SOMEONE BUY THE CASES AND PUT THEM ON EBAY YOU WILL SELL ALOT OF THEM, AND DONT OVER PRICE! lol

  4. I want one now. I’m a door to door rep. DO U. HAVE ANY IDEA how useful ur product would be to me !!!!!

  5. When Will I be able to buy one of your Iphone 3G solar charging case in the USA?

  6. Solar power and leather kinda don’t go together, as far as I’m concerned.
Make one out of durable “whatever” and it makes a whole lot more sense, and I would buy one…

  7. If one is afraid of too much heating of the iPhone – why not buy the white model?
I have enough time to charge the iPhone during the day, but I definitely don’t want to carry a supplementary battery with me all the time. So if there’s anytime a model without the battery, I would be very interested.

  8. I love the iphone. I love the thought of this. . . I hope it’s made of real leather not the cheap cardboard stuff we see so many products made out of today.

They’re making hamburgers outta cows. Why be wasteful and not use the rest of the cow for leather. Make the case out of leather! Don’t fake it!

And for those that disagree, quit telling us how to live our lives.

    Sincerely,

A man who eats hamburgers and wants a leather case.

  9. You all need to read the description better. You don’t have to leave the iPhone in the sun. The case has a battery. The battery charges the iPhone. Then the solar panel can recharge the battery.

  10. Brilliant Idea. Why didnt I think of that!?!?!? Looking foward ti read the first reviews of this….kudos all round

  11. You don’t actually need to have the case in direct sunlight for them to charge. I know what you mean though, leaving your phone in direct sunlight probably isn’t good for its health, but this case was charging on my desk – and i’m no where near a window!

  12. Uhhh…isn’t it a bad idea to leave your phone sitting out in the sun? Especially in a BLACK leather case? I can’t imagine the heat it absorbs is particularly good for your phone.

  13. Barry, I think you are right. It would work as a carrying case for the iPod Touch but you would definitely have to take it out of the case every time you wanted to use the audio jack socket.

  14. Re Ipod touch.

I think the main drawback would be you could not use it in this case as I think unlike the iPhone, the touch headphone connector is on the bottom so would be blocked when plugged into the charger in the case.

    I could be wrong though.

  15. When we got our first batch into the Mobile Fun Office, it actually increased from 75% charge to 100% charge from just sitting on an office desk near a window.. it was quite surprising.

  16. I just wonder if the iPhone will get too hot sitting out in the sun (even with the case). I’m all about solar power, just wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving any electronics in the sun.

  17. I have tried this on the ipod touch, it works fine. It does fit, but the case is slightly bigger. Highly recommended.
