My new year’s resolution is to be more tidy, both at work and at home. My desk is normally a disaster area, littered with train tickets, cardboard boxes and a million different cables — but that ends in 2017. Here’s what I’ll be using to keep my things neat, tidy and always easy to find.

Let’s start at the beginning. This wooden desk station is designed to hold your smartphone, a tablet or e-reader, and a few other bits and bobs too: SD cards, Micro SD cards, SIM cards and a pen. 4. Magnetidy Universal Cable Manager
This cable manager is brilliant, allowing you to easily keep cables in exactly the right position instead of letting them go wild all over your desk. Simply attach the base unit to your desk using the non-destructive adhesive, and put each of your cables within its own magnetic holder. Once in place, the cable holder will be magnetically attached to the base unit, keeping it in position until you want to move it. Each manager can deal with up to three cables of various thicknesses, and of course you can pick up multiple cable managers if you need more than that. These don’t just work on desks, either — you could use them in your car, on your night stand or in the bathroom.
3. Biisafe Buddy Location Tracker
Bluetooth location trackers are quite brilliant for ensuring your smaller items don’t go walkabout. Attach one of these to your keys or any other easily lost item, and you’ll be able to find it using an app on your phone. Or if you’ve misplaced your phone, you can use the tracker to find it. No matter which way ’round you’re using them, you can make your lost item make noise, and if you’re using the app you’ll know where the item was last spotted. Awesome.
2. Avantree PowerTower Desktop USB Charger
If you’re charging multiple devices, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have one mains adapter for each of them. Instead, invest in a charger that has multiple USB plugs. This one from Avantree has six USB ports sharing some 8A of power, and even includes some smart circuitry to make sure each port delivers optimum power for the device that’s plugged into it. The sleek design doesn’t look out of place on your newly tidy desk, and it ensures that you’ll only need one mains socket to charge a whole desk full of items.

This one is perhaps my favourite, which is why I’ve left it until last. This is a three-in-one desktop organiser, giving you a place to store your smartphone, pens and paperclips, and sticky notes. The containers stack together too, so it’s easy to take this with you when you’re travelling or just switching to a new desk.
