Looking forward to a healthier new year? Here are five gadgets and fitness accessories for becoming fit as a fiddle in the new year — or as soon as it’s warm out, anyway.
5. Olixar Universal Bike Phone Mount
This bike mount makes it super easy to see GPS navigation, control your music and generally have a good time while cycling. The mounting clip expands to hold phones both in and out of cases between 54 and 100 millimetres in width, while the mounting pedestal is compatible with most bikes on the market. There’s a quick release button to rapidly free your phone, and the mount remains stable even in bumpy conditions. If you need a little incentive to get riding more often, this could be it!
4. KitSound Sport Band Headphones
These clever headphones are built into a sweat band, allowing you to keep your face sweat-free while listening to your favourite songs, a podcast or indeed anything else. Just plug the headphones into your phone via the 3.5mm connector (iPhone 7 users will need to use their 3.5mm to Lightning adapter), and you’re good to go! The band is made from Terylene and Spandex, giving it advanced moisture-wicking properties, and the headphone drivers are easily removable so the band can be washed. If you’re sick of struggling with headphones while running, this could be just the ticket.
3. Motorola Moto 360 Sport 2nd Gen SmartWatch
Motorola’s second generation Moto 360 Sport is purpose built for running and exercise, with a sleek modern exterior that’s resistant to sweat, rain and other moisture. You can track your workouts with the built-in apps or hundreds of options on the Google Play marketplace, plus automatically track your steps, distance covered and other information throughout the day. You can control the watch using voice commands, making it easy to check forecasts, set reminders or perform other tasks without needing to swipe around the screen. This one is a little more expensive than others on the list, but it’s an awesome choice that’ll help you throughout the day.
2. Bellabeat Leaf Fitness And Sleep Monitor – Silver
This stylish fitness and sleep monitor is disguised as a pendant, allowing you to track your exercise and sleep patterns without an obvious gadget strapped to your wrist. The Bellabeat lives up to its name as smart jewellery; something you’d consider wearing just because it’s cute. As well as sleep and exercise tracking, the Bellabeat app provides breathing exercises to reduce your stress levels and menstrual cycle tracking. The app’s available for Android and iPhone too, so you’ll be able to use it no matter what phone you have. With so many spartan fitness trackers on the market, the Bellabeat is a breath of fresh air.
1. Olixar Universal Armband for Large-Sized Smartphones
Our final accessory is perhaps the most important: an armband that’ll let you keep your phone within easy reach while you’re running and exercising, without exposing it to rain, sweat, mud or tears. The adjustable armband feels comfortable, and will fit arm circumferences of ten to fifteen inches. As well as the smartphone holder, there’s a hole for your headphones and a small pocket for keys, cash and other small things — awesome.
