LG 360 Cam
June 2016

The LG G5 arrived on the scene with a little help from its Friends, official accessories that expanded the phone’s capabilities way beyond the mainstream. One such Friend is the LG 360 Cam, an easy-to-use 360-degree camera that allows you to capture VR photos and videos. Here’s what the critics think.

“The 360 CAM is a promising offering from LG. In particular, it provides better video quality on YouTube than the Ricoh Theta S, which could be enough to convince those who haven’t quite been bowled over by the Ricoh offering…. while this still isn’t the essential 360 camera that everyone must have, it’s another step in that direction.”

“I imagine that in a year or two, 360-degree cameras will have come a long way in terms of image quality, and LG’s first foray into the market will look decidedly outdated. But, as we stand today, it’s one of only a handful of solutions that you can actually buy.”

“The 360 Cam is the only one of LG’s current circle of Friends we’d want to spend any time with. If we were choosing guests for a tech dinner party, the Cam Plus would be scratched off the list for being dull, and the Hi-Fi Plus would get kicked because it only wants to talk about one thing. The 360 Cam would be welcomed. It wants to see the world, and then share its experiences with everyone.”

“It works well for making 360-degree videos to share with your friends and family, but that’s about it. Despite all the other features it boasts, the LG 360 Cam is really just a one-trick pony.”

“At £100 less than the Ricoh Theta S, the LG 360 Cam is arguably the best 360-degree camera you can buy right now. Admittedly, there’s not a lot of competition out there at the moment, as precious few wide-angle cameras can actually shoot in 360-degrees. “

“Some software quirks aside, LG’s entry into the 360-degree video and photography world is a fun little way to show off everything that’s going on around you. Whether it’s a couple hundred bucks worth of fun? We’ll have to wait and see.”
