First HTC 10 official accessories revealed

The HTC 10 is a cracker of a phone, boasting a sleek design, unique features and innovative accessories.  Today we’re gonna talk about those exciting accessories, as we cover HTC’s official Ice View case and some of the first ever noise-cancelling USB-C headphones from JBL, both made for the HTC 10.

Ice is nice: HTC’s official flip case

HTC’s best known case is the Dot View, a retro case that accompanied previous HTC flagships like the One M9. The Dot View came with a grid of see-through dots, letting you see information like the time and notifications without opening the flip cover. The new Ice View is an evolution of that same idea, providing both a fun look and genuinely useful information.

The new case has a semi-transparent pane the same size and shape as the screen underneath. That allows the full screen to shine through to show information, at a much higher resolution and with better colour than before. That makes notifications easier to read, and much more information can be delivered on this higher-resolution canvas.

As well as seeing incoming calls and other notifications, you can also quickly pull up different controls or information. You can skip tracks, see the weather forecast or check the time all without peeling back the cover. You can even open the camera app and take a photo, the semi-transparent cover providing surprisingly good clarity.

The Ice View case is scheduled to arrive alongside the HTC 10 smartphone for around £37.

One of the first USB-C headphones

JBL took to the stage at the HTC 10 event, to show off one of the very first retail headphones using USB-C. The Reflect Aware C aren’t just any headphones, either — they’re fancy noise cancelling headphones. Unlike other noise cancelling headphones on the market, they don’t need a dedicated battery pack, as they can pull all the power they need over the USB-C connection.

The Reflect Aware C are designed for active use, with a sweat-proof design and a range of ear tips to ensure they don’t fall out during your daily constitutional. You can adjust the level of noise cancellation on the inline remote, which also has an integrated microphone and the usual volume / playback controls.

The noise cancellation feature makes a lot of sense for USB-C, and should set the Reflect Aware C apart from the upgraded in-ears that come with the HTC 10. Given the HTC 10’s audio credentials and the sizeable 14.8mm drivers used in the Reflect Aware C’s construction, they should sound excellent too.

HTC and JBL are yet to announce a delivery date or price for the headphones yet, but they should arrive within the next couple of months.
