Could there be an ‘all glass’ iPhone 8?

Never mind the iPhone 7, numero uno Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, from KGI Securities, speculates that Apple’s most innovative iPhone of recent years will be the iPhone 8.

To coincide with the iPhone’s 10th anniversary in 2017, Apple is rumored to be introducing a radical overhaul of the famed device – while the iPhone 7, due to be released later this year, is expected to be simply a slight redesign of the iPhone 6S.

Apple fans can expect to say goodbye to the signature aluminium frame and instead enjoy an all glass design that sports an innovative curved OLED display.

The iPhone 8 is also expected to have a new AMOLED display that will be thinner and lighter to compensate for the slightly heavier glass design.

There may be a slight trepidation for those who remember the cracked backs that plagued Apple’s previous glass device – the iPhone 4 / 4S – however improvements in material design and construction are expected to overcome these previous issues.

So what do you think? Are you excited by the prospect of a radically different iPhone? Let us know in the comments below…
