HTC unveils new Desire phones inspired by streetwear fashion

HTC took to the Mobile World Congress last month to unleash its latest phones. Although we didn’t see a flagship, the Taiwanese company did show off its latest budget-friendly Desire phones, all adorned with ‘micro splash’ designs that HTC says were inspired by street fashion. Let’s take a closer look.

There are three new Desire phones in all, the 530, 630 and 825. All come with the micro splash design, which add multicoloured speckles to a solid colour. HTC have chosen some pretty solid colourways too, from a night sky blue or black, to a cheerful light red or white. The plastic phones don’t compare to higher-end devices made from metal or glass, but they’re still pretty enough.

Aside from their colourful designs, these Android smartphones aren’t too notable. They offer varying degrees of meagre specifications, with the Desire 530 sitting at the bottom of the pile with a 5-inch 720p display. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 210 1.1 GHz quad-core processor backed with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel selfie cam up front and a 2,200mAh battery keeping it all going.

The Desire 630 boasts a more powerful (but older) Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz quad-core processor, backed with 2GB of RAM. It also has a second SIM slot and a better 13-megapixel rear camera; otherwise it offers the same specs as its little brother.

The Desire 825 is the leader of this merry little band, with single and dual-SIM versions, a 5.5-inch 720p display, BoomSound stereo speakers and a 2,700mAh battery. Otherwise, it’s the same as the Desire 630.

One point in HTC’s favour is that all three phone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow when they’re released later this month. HTC’s Sense software will run on top, but it should be quite light and not a big deal either way.

Here at Mobile Fun, we’ll be supporting each phone with cases and accessories. Take a look at the links below if you end up getting one!
