The Xperia Z5 Compact is one of my favourite phones from 2015, thanks to its modest dimensions, powerful internals and enviable style. It’s also available in a wide range of colours, which always helps. We’ve recently added a bunch of new cases for the phone to our virtual shelves, so I thought we could take a look at some of the highlights. Let’s go!
5. Rearth Ringke Fusion
The Rearth Ringke Fusion is a great looking case that offers few compromises. It’s made from a combination of polycarbonate and rubber, ensuring excellent protection against bumps and scrapes, keeping the notoriously crack-prone Z5 Compact out of harm’s way. Visually, the case takes a back seat to the phone it’s surrounding, which works well for the rarer shades of the phone.

If you’re looking for a stylish case that makes a statement on its own, then Create and Case have something for you. Their three designs for the Z5 Compact — Sunny Leo, Watercolour Owl and Colourflash — are all fantastic, offering an eye-catching look that sets your phone apart. The case is practical too, with folds that work as a stand and slots for your cash and credit cards.
3. Love Mei Powerful Case
Love Mei’s Powerful Case is one of my favourites, offering real metal armour against damage of all kinds. The Love Mei case has a rugged impact truss design to shrug off heavy impacts, with a built-in screen protector to keep your display safe. The case is also water and dust resistant, adding to the phone’s natural defenses. The case is a bit thicker than its peers, so you’ll also get a lanyard loop that allows you to keep your phone close at hand.
2. Case-Mate Tough Case
Case-Mate’s Tough Case is another long-running customer favourite, offering a good blend of protection and style without adding too much weight or bulk. The case is designed for those with active lifestyles, allowing their phones to take a few tumbles without requiring expensive repairs. The case is available in two colours, including the Naked clear variant shown above and a more opaque black option.
1. Cruzerlite Bugdroid Case
Cruzerlite’s Bugdroid design is sure to appeal to Android fans, thanks to its inclusion of the Andy the Android mascot on the rear of the case. The case is available in a range of colourways, from bright green or blue to a more sedate black or clear, and looks good with all of the Z5 Compact’s different colours. The case is slim, with its textured design adding grip and preventing accidental drops. Although you’ll find more protection on dual-material or thicker cases, you’ll still get a good level of protection from minor impacts and scratches here.
