The colour Pebble Time is one of the company’s most stylish and functional smartwatches, and now the Time has gotten even better. The Time’s app and firmware are both being updated this week, adding improved messaging functionality and better health tracking.

There are a couple of OS-specific features. iPhone users can look forward to sending custom replies to incoming messages, instead of the default canned options that were available previously. Meanwhile, Android users can reply to incoming calls with a text, or a voice note or simply an emoji. There’s also a new app available that’ll let Android users start text conversations afresh, instead of just replying to existing conversations — very useful.

Pebble is also adding new features for developers and watch face creators. It’s now possible to show data from Pebble Health, such as step count or sleep data. The first watch face with these features is available now, and no doubt developers will be quick to add similar functionality using the API released this week. Pebble Health itself should also be more accurate, with better tracking for a range of activities.

Finally, there are the usual spread of bug fixes and performance improvements. Pebble Time and Time Steel owners will get better performance, there’ll be more accurate icons for incoming MMSes and an even more efficient low power mode.

Everything has been released, so if you’re a Pebble owner then make sure to hit update in your app store of choice!
