It’s a new year so everyone is cracking on with their new year’s resolutions and reading articles on how to keep to them. In this case, we’re quite happy to jump on the bandwagon and so have sought out the best health-focused Kickstarter campaigns this week. Bare in mind though that not all of these are directly relation to fitness; alongside some custom insoles and advanced workout tights we also have a sleep hoodie, alarm clock and documentary focusing on one woman’s fight to balance motherhood and her career as a professional MMA fighter.
BASE
In a nutshell… Custom, 3D Printed Insoles.
BASE by Wiivv is an insole that has been engineered to maximise comfort and promote healthy alignment of your feet. You can create the insole by using the accompanying Wiivv smartphone app to take 2D images of your soles. You can then customise the colours, designs and top-sheets of the soles before they are verified by an expert and 3D printed using SLS technology. The insole will closely follow your unique foot curvature to give you the correct amount of support and stability.
Vaporydes
In a nutshell… the World’s Most Advanced Workout Tights.
Choosing the right workout wear is a constant struggle especially when you’re trying to find a balance between comfort and style. Stryder seem to have a balance with this however with Vaporydes, “the world’s most advanced activewear” (we’ll take their word for it for now). What makes Vaporydes different to other workout tights is the implementation of vented compression. TO clarify, this means that it uses thermo-regulated muscle strapping which will maximise blood circulation and control soft tissue oscillation to keep you cooler and drier. It even includes a pocket for your smartphone which fits devices with screen sizes up to 5.7″ so you can keep your smartphone with you wherever you go.
Hypnos
In a nutshell… the World’s Best Sleep Hoodie
Although the usual 9-5 isn’t conducive to napping, it’s certainly a tempting prospect at certain times of day. In fact, many famous figures including Winston Churchill, Leonardo DaVinci, and Eleanor Roosevelt swore by napping and its ability to leave them refreshed and ready to face the day again. The creators of Hypnos are likely followers of this school of thought as it aims to be the best hoodie for sleep. Many of us wear hoodies on a daily basis and, if we’ve trying to catch 40 winks will use the hood as a head rest, however it’s not always the most comfortable solution. The Hypnos inflates to form a wonderfully ergonomic pillow to allow you to rest in comfort.
Ruggie™
In a nutshell… the World’s Best Alarm Clock.
If you think the nation has a problem getting to sleep, imagine how hard it is for it to drag itself out of bed in the morning! Bed-side Alarm clocks have been a mainstay of the bedroom for hundreds of years now and generally seem to do the job. However, more often than not we’ll whack the snooze button and keep on dozing. Ruggie claims to have fixed this problem as you’ll actually need to get out of bed to turn it off. There’s no snoozing it either as Ruggie needs to sense your pressure for at least 3 seconds before it shuts off. You can also customise the alarm sound by connecting the Ruggie to your computer whether you rise to Ride of the Valkyries or awaken to some upbeat pop.
