The best iPad Pro keyboard cover? The Logitech Create!

The iPad Pro is out now, and already users are leaving their thoughts on the new model. One of the common criticisms seems to be leveled at Apple’s keyboard, which is expensive at £139.00 and isn’t even available in a UK English layout (as shown above).

The biggest issue reported with the keyboard has to do with how thin it is. There just isn’t much travel in the keys, compared to laptops and even other tablet keyboards. That makes it harder to get accurate feedback on whether you’ve pressed down a key correctly, and it makes it a lot easier to make typos. It’s easy to see why Apple went for form over function, but if you actually want to get some work done on the iPad Pro it’s probably best to go with an alternative.

So far, the best alternative that’s emerged is Logitech’s Create Keyboard Case. This model’s keys have much more travel, so you get much better tactile feedback. Jeremy Horwitz of 9to5Mac put it this way in his review:

…the keyboard itself, which is typically excellent in the way that so many Logitech keyboards have been…. they’re so close in feel and functionality [to a MacBook] that there’s zero learning curve before you start typing like a… well, Pro. I was able to type far more accurately on Create than with the iPad Pro’s new landscape or portrait keyboards…

The keys are also backlit, making it easier to find that odd bit of punctuation in low light conditions. There are three lighting levels (off, dim, bright), easily triggered with shortcut keys. There are also iOS-specific function keys, so you can easily start a search, adjust the volume and more without reaching for the iPad Pro’s display. Like Apple’s model, the keyboard is charged from the iPad Pro’s Smart Connector, so it doesn’t need to be recharged with a cable at any point. Connection to the iPad is also instant, thanks to the wired connection, with no Bluetooth pairing needed at any point.

The case itself is also strong and protective, with a nice-feeling fabric texture on the outside and a strong C-shaped frame inside to keep your iPad Pro securely in place. The case supports two angles, so you can easily write or watch Netflix on the Pro’s titanic display.

The Logitech Create Keyboard seems like the best choice available on launch day for the iPad Pro. If you’d like to see more, then please check out the Create in Black or Red via the links below!
