Got a new Sony Xperia Z5 or Z5 Compact? You probably need a case.

The Verge recently published their review of Sony’s latest flagship phones: the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact. The review is broadly positive, but reviewer Vlad Savov does mention one big weakness: the glass back of the phone. It sure looks nice, but it’s also easily scratched or cracked; he ended up with a long crack not by dropping it from a great height, but just “an incautious plopping of the phone on my bedside table.”

He continues (emphasis ours):

What worries me more, though, is the outpouring of stories from current and former Xperia Z owners saying that they’ve had similar problems. Cracked or shattered glass backs are actually a recurring issue with Sony’s devices, and the only reason we haven’t heard more about them, I imagine, is the relatively low sales volume of these handsets and their absence from the most demanding US market… A case or some other protective measure would seem advisable for future Xperia Z5 owners.

If you are picking up an Xperia Z5 or Z5 Compact, then you may want to check out our range of cases via the links below. We have a nice spread available, from thin and light cases to more robust and protective options. Our FlexiShield cases are a good example of the former, with a slim gel build, while the ArmourDillo case is a good heavy-duty option.

We’ll be coming out with more Xperia Z5 case recommendations in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the Mobile Fun Blog right here and our social media presences on Facebook and Twitter. Stay safe out there, Xperiowners!
