LG’s new Nexus 5 revealed in surprisingly un-blurry photo

We’ve known for a while that two companies are making a Nexus phone this year: Huawei, the first Chinese company to do so, and long-time Google partners and Koreans LG. Huawei’s six-inch phone hasn’t been leaked too much yet, but LG’s 5.5-inch variant has just been revealed in a surprisingly good leaked photo.

Endgaget famously calls photo leakers by the “Mr. Blurrycam” pseudonym, but this photo that appeared in an Indonesian Google+ community is clear, in focus and generally top quality for what must have been a hastily-taken photo.

The photo of the purported Nexus 5 (2015) shows a medium-size handset, with a big camera bump that sits atop a circular outline. This outline is theorised to be a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, allowing users to authenticate mobile payments and sign into their phone without another passcode. The rounded back also includes a flash module and what could be a rear-facing speaker. Unlike LG’s G3 and G4 though, this design doesn’t include rear-facing buttons, a move that will likely resonate with fans.

The Nexus 5 is expected to be unveiled later this summer or in early autumn, with shipments to begin before the start of winter.
