We recently saw a few more interesting rumours regarding the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Firstly, developer Hamza Sood found an interesting snippet in the iOS 9 source code which includes “_enableDeepPress” as a function name. From his tweet, it appears Apple is testing trackpad gestures activated by Force Touch, the “deep press” that debuted on the Apple Watch.

We also saw some new packaging leak online via Chinese site cnBeta. The packaging appears to show a golden koi, alongside the expected iPhone 6S Plus moniker. The koi is one of several animated wallpapers that Apple is set to include in the new version of iOS; some basic examples have already surfaced in the iOS 9 public beta.

It’s a possible fake, but packaging leaks have been accurate before and it’s worth mentioning. The article also mentions a battery size decrease, with the new Plus model moving from 2910 to 2750mAh; battery life will still likely remain at its current levels.

Our final bit of information comes from reputed sources in Apple’s supply chain speaking to Business Insider. These sources confirm that the iPhone 6S will come with a 12-megapixel rear camera with a five-element lens. Apple would then move to a six-element bespoke lens for the iPhone 7 and onwards. 4K video recording and 2-megapixel front-facing camera with flash are also thought to be included, according to 9to5Mac.
