4-inch iPhone 6C to launch on September 9th!

Prominent person-in-the-know Evan Blass, better known by his Twitter handle @evleaks, has confirmed that this year’s iPhone launch will include three models: a 4-inch iPhone 6C, a 4.7-inch iPhone 6S and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6S Plus.

Previously, it was thought that only two direct followups to last year’s phones would be announced. Apple is rumoured to be announcing all three models at an event on September 9th, just under a month away.

Of course, the first ‘C’ model arrived in a similar manner, alongside the iPhone 5S in September 2013. It would make sense for Apple to revisit the pint-sized model in a two year cadence, in contrast with the yearly updates for the “main” lineup which now includes medium and large size options.

Unlike the iPhone 5C though, this year’s phone is thought to possess the same hardware as its peers, unlike the iPhone 5C which came with the same hardware as the iPhone 5 that launched a year before. The 5C wil include a new generation 14 or 16nm chipset and a 1715mAh battery, and may even include a metal body that would definitely set it apart from the plastic iPhone 5C. It’s not known whether the 6C will include the 5C’s wide range of colour options, but that would seem to make sense.
