The world of science fiction is quickly resembling our own, especially when it comes to smartphones. These pocket-sized devices are capable of so much, and with the new Seek Thermal Imaging Camera, you’ll get another astounding capability – the ability to see heat.
Every around you sees or reflects thermal energy, so there’s plenty to see when you use the Seek. You can use it to spot intruders or wildlife in the back garden, find where your house is losing heat in the winter, or even track down a lost pet. Aside from the practical elements, using a thermal imaging camera is just fun. You can use it to cheat at hide-and-seek, go bird watching at night or any number of other uses.
How does it work? Well, the Seek plugs plugs into the bottom of your smartphone, connecting the thermal imaging camera to your phone when you use the free Seek app. From here, you can switch between different modes, switch between your normal and thermal camera, and even take still photos or videos with the thermal camera. It’s even possible to get live temperature readings from objects in sight.
The Seek Thermal Imaging Camera is available for iOS and Android 4.3+ devices, using Lightning or micro USB connectors respectively. You can also find an extended range version of the device, which lets you see out to further distances at a slightly higher price point. For example, with this version you could spot a human at 1800 feet away. This version is also available for both iOS and Android.
