HearthStone: Heroes of WarCraft released for Android & iPhone

Blizzard’s digital card game Hearthstone is now available on iPhone and Android phones, months after its debut on the iPad and Android tablets, and about a year after it first was launched on PC and Mac.

The game has you controlling heroes from the WarCraft universe, playing minions and spells to whittle down your opponent. The gameplay is much more accessible than most CCGs like Magic: The Gathering, but there’s still great strategic depth once you get into it.

The incredibly addictive game has been carefully ported to suit smaller screens, with tweaks to ensure that the game remains easy to understand for newcomers and veterans alike. You can begin with a short series of tutorial missions, or get right back to battling against friends and foes in the multiplayer. If you’ve already played on another platform, you’ll immediately be able to sign into your Battle.net account and get access to your cards, decks and friends list.

Hearthstone is free to play, with in-app purchases for additional singleplayer campaigns, multiplayer Arena play and additional card packs. You’ll get a free pack of cards for playing a match on phone, so it’s definitely worth checking out. You can download it via the App Store or Google Play store as usual, plus the Amazon App Store if you don’t have Play Store access.

25 million people already play the game, so it’ll be interesting to see how many more pick it up on these new platforms. What do you make of Hearthstone? Let us know in the comments below or write to us on Twitter @mobilefun!
