Sony Xperia E4g UK price announced

The Sony Xperia E4 was impressive enough when it was announced earlier this month, but now Sony have sweetened the deal. They announced the Xperia E4g today, which is a 4G version of the phone (see what they did there?). The Xperia E4g will be available sim-free and unlocked from Mobile Fun, where we’re happy to announce a UK price of £110!

Let’s take a closer look at the E4g. The phone is reasonable powerful given its low price point, with a quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (plus micro SD expansion). The phone has a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2-megapixel shooter up front, allowing it to take decent photos from either end. The phone has a good-sized screen for this price range as well, with a 4.7-inch display that has a qHD (960 x 540) resolution. All of this is powered by a 2300mAh battery, which Sony promises will offer up to 12 hours and 40 minutes of 3G talk time. When it comes to software, we’re expecting Android 4.4.4 KitKat, with an upgrade to Android 5.0 likely for later this year.

The Xperia E4g will compete against the also-recently-announced 2nd Gen Motorola Moto E, which also launches with 4G LTE support and a similar 4.5-inch form factor. Both phones also share a near-stock level of Android, although Sony offer more customisations than Motorola.

As the E4g has different dimensions than the the E4, not all E4 cases will work for the E4g and vice versa. We’re in the process of adding cases and covers for the Xperia E4g, as well as a broader range of applicable E4g accessories.
