HTC introduced one of the coolest cases of 2014 with the Dot View, a flip case with a cool retro dot display for notifications. Now Samsung have raised the stakes with the LED Cover for the Note 4, a flip case that provides a similar retro effect but with a more stylish, minimal look. The front display lets you check the time, missed calls, battery life and more.
The LED Flip Cover actually works a little differently to the Dot View. The Dot View had a grid of holes that allowed the screen below to shine through, while the LED Flip Cover actually includes its own lighting. This allows much more complex effects, with smaller dots updated more frequently.
For example, while listening to music you’ll be treated to an equaliser graphic; when receiving calls you’ll see a scrolling readout of the contact that’s calling. It looks really cool in person, and definitely elevates the case above less advanced flip covers.
The LED Flip Cover is practical too. The slim design still finds space for a single card slot, so you can keep your ID, tickets or credit card with you easily. The case also automatically locks and unlocks your phone when it is closed and opened, thanks to a tiny magnet inside.
