It’s surprisingly hard to tell how much power your smartphone or tablet is drawing from a charger. There’s no simple and accurate way to make it work by installing an app; in order to truly measure things you’ll need some extra hardware. Today we’re introducing the hardware you need: the Micro USB Power / Current Voltage Detector.
The Detector takes the form of a small module attached to one end of a micro USB cable. This module calculates the voltage being drawn through the cable and the device’s operating current and voltage. With these figures, you’ll be able to see how fast your device is charging – quite useful to find out which of the chargers you’ve got provides the most power and therefore the fastest charging.
This useful tool is compatible with all micro USB devices, including smartphones, tablets, accessories and even a few laptops. This includes most modern Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices; Apple devices can be made compatible with a Lightning to micro USB adapter.
The Micro USB Power Current Detector requires only nominal power, which it can take from the power source it’s connected to. It’s entirely plug and play – just plug the cable into your micro USB device and a power source. The display will shift between each available data point automatically. The Detector is also quite portable, making it easy to take with you wherever you might need it.
The Detector is available for pre-order right now. For the latest pricing and availability data, please visit the product page linked below. You’ll also find additional information on the device’s specifications.
