The Galaxy Tab S is the latest and greatest tablet from Samsung, with a svelte body and high resolution 10.5-inch display. It’s not all fun and games though – with the right accessories, this can be one of the most productive tablets on the market. I’m talking about a top quality keyboard case – and two such cases have been announced for the tablet thus far. Let’s take a look.
The first comes direct from Samsung, the Official Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Keyboard Case. As you’d expect from Samsung, it fits the tablet perfectly, adding a slim chiclet keyboard that pulls double duty as a screen-protecting case.
With the keyboard extended, you’ll have the same comfortable writing position as a laptop, with the screen at a convenient angle and the keyboard laid out below. The keyboard includes a full QWERTY arrangement, letting you type far more quickly and accurately than you ever could by tapping on glass. This includes special Android function keys along the top row, letting you quickly access common functions with a single key press. The case is also one of the most stylish I’ve seen for the Galaxy Tab S, with a glassy gold-coloured metal band around the case.
Our second contender is a third-party option from Logitech, the Type-S Keyboard and Case. This is a hardier option than the Samsung keyboard case, with a water-resistant coating and a more durable construction. Another advantage is that you can adjust the tablet and keyboard to a variety of angles, allowing you to adopt the traditional laptop posture, a more relaxed slant, or a near-flat angle that’s ideal for writing with a stylus. At each point, the SecureLock magnet system ensures that the tablet remains safely inside the case.
Like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 case, the Logitech option includes a full layout keyboard with scissor-switched keys, like those you’d find on a laptop. This gives you an easy way to quickly author documents, reply to emails and even write blogs like this one. With the Galaxy Tab S’s multi-window feature, you’ll be able to write notes on one side while looking at a web-page or another document or another. Combined with the keyboard, you’ll have laptop levels of productivity in a much smaller and longer lasting package.
