EE were the first to offer 4G service in the UK, and they’ve since underscored that advantage with a pair of 4G own-brand devices: the EE Kestrel smartphone, and now the EE Eagle tablet. Like the Kestrel before it, the Eagle is a reasonably powerful Android device with a very low price if you get it on contract.
You’ll find an 8-inch 1280×800 display, 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and a 5 megapixel rear camera… not bad for £200 on a pay-as-you-go tariff or £50 on a £15/month contract. For comparison, the Nexus 7 from Google is £299 for its LTE variant, while the Hudl from Tesco is £119 but lacks any cellular connectivity. An iPad Mini is even more expensive, at £349 for a 4G equipped variant.
At Mobile Fun, we’ll be supporting the new tablet with a range of EE Eagle cases and accessories. Here’s what we’ve got so far!
Our first bespoke EE Eagle case is the Stand and Type Case. The case offers a convenient blend of form and function, with a protective front cover that folds behind to form a media stand. The case is attractive too, with a faux-leather design in three colourways: black, white and red.
Kit Universal Bluetooth Keyboard Case
If you want to get some work done on the Eagle, a keyboard can be a great help whether you’re composing emails, writing reports or blogging. This universal case fits the Eagle well, and includes a detachable Bluetooth keyboard that’ll make typing faster and more comfortable. You’ll also get a stand, for that laptop-like form factor.
Proporta Quiksilver Pouch Case
If you want a place to keep your Eagle while you’re travelling, then a pouch is an ideal choice. This option from Proporta is beautiful and protective, with full protection against scratches and impacts while the Eagle is inside.
If you don’t pick up a case for your Eagle, then a screen protector is a good idea. This keeps the screen from being scratched or dented, preventing costly repairs and keeping your Eagle looking new.
PadPivot NST Ultra Portable Universal Tablet Stand
The PadPivot is one of the few accessories that I actually own and use regularly myself. It’s a folding tablet stand that makes it easy to watch movies or play games on tablets like the Eagle, and is definitely handy if you don’t already have stand functionality from the case you’ve chosen. The small size and folding design make a the PadPivot a good choice for travel as well.
Samsung 32 GB microSD HC Card – Class 6
The Eagle comes with only 16 GB of storage, but it does feature a microSD card slot. This means you can cheaply and easily add additional storage space, with a microSD card like the one shown above. This card from Samsung adds 32 GB of storage space, and boasts fast read/write times thanks to its Class 6 speed rating.
Olixar BoomBrick Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
We conclude our selection of EE Eagle accessories with this Bluetooth speaker, the Olixar BoomBrick. The BoomBrick is a low-cost speaker that nonetheless provides a warm, room-filling sound. Given the rather weedy internal speakers on the Eagle, the BoomBrick can make music sound much better and louder.
Conclusion
The EE Eagle is a solid-looking 4G tablet at a good price, so pick one up and then get some EE Eagle accessories from us! If you have any questions or suggestions about the tablet or its accessories, ask ’em in the comments below.
