Top 5 iPad Air cases for February 2014

One of the nicest things about choosing an Apple device is the massive accessory ecosystem that exists for it. Every week, dozens of new accessories are made for iPhones and iPads. Today we’re going to take a look at some of these new arrivals, the top 5 new cases for the iPad Air. Let’s get started!

5. Sophisticase iPad Air Frameless Case – Blue / Black / Red / Purple

Our first iPad Air cover is this model from Sophisticase – the Frameless Case. This case is designed to maximise your ability to touch and engage with the iPad’s display, while still providing a good level of scratch resistance and a bit of impact protection too. The case includes all of the functionality you should expect in an iPad Air folio case as well – sleep/wake, a viewing stand and cutouts for all ports and features. The case is available in a good range of colours and isn’t too expensive either, so it definitely fulfils that ‘cheap and cheerful’ criteria.

4. Moshi VersaKeyboard Case with Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad Air

As the name so handily gives away, this iPad Air case includes an ultra-thin Bluetooth keyboard embedded in the folio cover. The case is all business, with a black contemporary look front and back. Unusually, the keyboard here is detachable, which allows for a much wider range of positions than you’d get with a static keyboard case. This is particularly ideal when you want to have the keyboard on your knees (e.g. on a train or plane), or when you’re at a desk with room to stretch out. The Moshi case is also quite slim for a keyboard case, and still provides a decent amount of protection against bumps and scratches. All in all, a solid case that should help unlock your productivity!

3. Noreve Tradition Leather Case for iPad Air

The Noreve Tradition is a beautiful, premium-grade leather case. It uses only the highest quality leather, providing stylish full-body protection for the iPad Air. All of the accoutrements that you’d expect are here too – there is automatic wake/sleep functionality, a built-in stand, and cutouts for all ports and buttons. The case has a simple design, but the key here is the top-notch execution.

2. Covert Metropolitan Case for iPad Air

The newest case on this list of new cases is the Covert Metropolitan. This is a classic folio-style case for the iPad Air, made from high-quality synthetic materials. It’s less expensive than the Noreve Tradition, but offers a similar style and level of sophistication. Like that case, it also includes a viewing stand – but also includes a more rugged design and some internal pockets.

1. Rock Folder Series for iPad Air

Our final case is my favourite of all the newcomers to our virtual shelves: the Rock Folder. I like it for a few reasons – probably the first is its look: quite modern, swooshy colours and very slim. There are a lot of very standard looking black and brown leather cases for the iPad Air, and it’s great to see something a bit different. The other nice thing about this case is that the price is low, but functionality isn’t affected – you still get sleep/wake, an internal pocket and a useful media stand. All in all, a great looking case at a compelling price.
