HTC Fetch – never lose your smartphone or keys again

Today we’ll have a look at an accessory that really stands up to HTC’s old quietly brilliant tagline. It’s called the Fetch, and it’ll take a load off your mind. Just like a modern car key will help you find your car in the car park, the Fetch will help you find your smartphone. It’s a simple function, but one that makes all the difference in the world when it comes to locating a misplaced mobile.

The Fetch works very simply – just push a button on the Fetch, and your smartphone’s ringtone will play if it’s within a range of 15 metres. That makes it very easy indeed to find your smartphone when it’s fallen behind the couch, gotten buried in a drawer or forgotten in an item of clothing. You’ll also be reminded to keep your phone with you by a single beep when your phone leaves that 15 metre range – this is great for making sure a friend or even a thief doesn’t wander off with your phone.

Of course, what happens if you lose your keys with the Fetch attached? In this case, you can use the app on your phone to relocate your keys. You’ll get a handy map of where your keys were last seen, making it easy to track them down.

Finally, the Fetch is a nice photographic aid as well. You can use it to remotely trigger your phone’s shutter, allowing you to easily take pictures from a distance without relying on a mad dash as a self-timer ticks down.

The HTC Fetch is simple to set up as well – it’s just a case of downloading and installing the HTC Fetch app on your HTC phone. Then, pair the Fetch to your phone over Bluetooth 4.0. You can pair up to three devices with Fetch at once, so you could potentially have your personal phone, your work phone and your tablet all working with the same Fetch.

Thanks to the use of the very latest Bluetooth standard, Low Energy, the Fetch has amazing battery life. It’ll last up to six months on a single CR2032 watch battery, allowing you to cheaply and easily install replacements as and when they are needed.
